What is ODA?
ODA is a dating app for Albanians in the homeland and the diaspora. Instead of swiping, every evening at 20:00 “the Oda opens” and you receive three introductions chosen for you. You hear a person’s voice before you see their face, and photos are revealed gradually as the conversation deepens.
How does ODA work?
You create a profile with your roots, city, dialect, intent and, if you like, a short voice introduction. Every evening at 20:00 in your local time you receive three introductions. When two people invite each other, the conversation (muhabet) opens. Photos start blurred and open in four stages: Spark, Embers, Flame and Fire.
Is ODA free?
Yes. ODA is free to download and use: the nightly introductions, the conversations and the photo reveal cost nothing. There are optional paid extras (ODA Gold and Boost), but no payment ever unlocks a photo. The reveal is earned only through conversation.
Why are the photos blurred?
Because in ODA voice comes before face. Photos start blurred and sharpen on their own the more you talk. The introduction starts from character rather than a two-second judgement, and your privacy is protected: only someone you have actually talked with sees your face clearly.
What does “besa” mean in ODA?
Besa is the Albanian word for a kept promise, and in ODA it is your reputation. It grows when you reply, keep your word and close conversations respectfully, and it drops when you leave people waiting. There are three tiers: golden, silver and bronze besa. It cannot be bought, only earned.
Who is ODA for, and where does it work?
ODA is for Albanians aged 18 and over, wherever they live: Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and the diaspora in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and beyond. You can look for people near you or with no distance limit.
Is ODA available on Android?
ODA is currently on the App Store for iPhone. The Android version is in testing and is coming soon to Google Play.
Is ODA for serious relationships and marriage?
Yes. Your profile states what you are here for: something serious and marriage-minded, open to something serious, or getting to know people with no rush. Your intent stays private and is used only to curate your introductions.
Is ODA safe? What about fake profiles?
ODA has no bots and no invented profiles. Profiles can be video-verified, every report is reviewed within 24 hours, and you can block anyone without them being notified. “Hide me from my contacts” keeps you invisible to people saved in your phone. ODA does not collect your GPS location.
What do “oda” and “muhabet” mean?
The oda is the guest room of a traditional Albanian house, where visitors are received and introductions are made. Muhabet means warm, unhurried conversation. The app is named after the room and built around the conversation.
